How to Complete Your ROE for Apprentices Entering In-Class Training:
A tip for Employer Sponsors on how to complete your ROE, when apprentices start in-class training – in order to support automatic EI benefits for your apprentice, employers must remit an ROE indicating the Apprenticeship Code ‘J’ (not the Lay off Code ‘A’ and not schooling Code ‘C’)
The EI Commissioner confirmed that this gesture has been made available to all Apprentices; provided the Employer completes the ROE properly.
Code J – Apprentice Training Employers would need to use this code if the employee is leaving the workplace temporarily for participating in a government-approved apprenticeship training program
This Employment Ontario program is funded in part by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario.
